Cave Hotels in Cappadocia
If you come to Cappadocia, why not consider staying in a unique kind of hotel?
Cave hotels are so called because they have at least some rooms carved out of the local volcanic soft tufa rock.
When these rooms were dug out no one is certain; it could have been thousands of years ago.
These caves were used as living spaces, food storeages, stables and even wine making depots.
Above and around these cave rooms there are often historical stone-built arched rooms, again the local volcanic tufa providing the material for the stone walls.
Our favourite Cappadocia cave rooms are at Hotel Cave Konak,
a rather unique example of historical listed buildings built above a mini underground city
with a special focus on traditional Cappadocian culture combined with full comfort.
